Considered a very stable and dense wood, Birch offers many of the same qualities for woodworking as Maple.  Anything that needs to withstand many years of use, this species should definitely be an option.  With only a small percentage of its yield being nearly white sapwood, you will find a wider array of colors throughout its more plentiful heartwood.  Birch is a great choice for tables, chairs, cabinets and flooring.
